A
Word About Our Company
BioSol is a privately owned Canadian company
dedicated to the research and development of safe, alternative cleaning
technologies for industry. The Company was founded in 1994 following
two years of studies which investigated the ever changing needs
and wants of the industrial marketplace. Head office, manufacturing
and central distribution facilities are located in Calgary, Alberta,
Canada.
BioSol products are the result of doing things backwards.
They were developed in the lab and field tested over the course
of nearly 3 years before going to market in 1992. The current products
represent the 8th generation of development. Each generation consists
of 50 to 75 different formulations that were tested first in the
lab, short-listed to the Top 3, then proven under practical field
conditions by volunteer users in various industries. None were made
available until we, and more importantly our test subjects, were
convinced of their commercial value and viability.
Our Commitment To Quality
Our initial market studies began in March, 1992.
Our conversations with workers in various industries across the
country unveiled a growing impatience with so-called "green"
products. Skepticism had bred a vigilant consumer who was quick
to renounce a majority of product claims. They had a pre-existing
notion that "friendly" cleaning products lacked the ability
to work. Safety was synonymous with non-performance. Most agreed
that environmental issues were important, but they had a job to
do. That was the bottom line.
A trade-off existed between safety and performance.
We took it upon ourselves to bridge the gap. Development of the
first BioSol® product began in 1991. Our mission: "To develop
a comprehensive line of chemical specialties that would perform
as well as the hazardous substances they were designed to replace,
without compromising environmental integrity or personnel safety."
The BioSol® and WORX™ product lines have
evolved and expanded over the years with the feedback received
from user-companies across Canada and the United States. Their
input is just as important to us now as it ever was. And, by working
closely with suppliers and regulators, we ensure that every BioSol® product
continues to offer true advancements in operational safety.
The evolution of BioSol products is based on input
from former users of hazardous substances. These we considered to
be the best critics of a so-called safer alternative. Open forums
regarding product performance gave us the information we needed
to meet -- and often exceed -- their expectations. Ongoing research
and development programs, coupled with user-satisfaction studies,
assures the customer that BioSol products will continue to meet
their ever-changing requirements.
People like BioSol products for what they are, AND
for what they are not. They are not corrosive, not flammable, do
not contain hazardous materials, yet they can clean more quickly
and easily than many of their hazardous counterparts. Reliability,
safety and versatility are the 3 keys to their widespread acceptance.
Our Commitment To You
Concern for environmental and personnel protection
is our only business. Our entire product line consists exclusively
of safer alternatives. Every BioSol® formulation is recognized
by regulatory enforcement agencies as being non-hazardous and non-polluting.
For that reason, our customers include those under close public
and political scrutiny when it comes to their environmental standards
of practice. We are proud to be the supplier of choice to companies
- large and small - operating in the energy, forestry, mining, marine,
waste management and manufacturing industries. Ongoing research
programs and user-satisfaction polls are our assurance that BioSol®
products will keep pace with a customer's ever-changing requirements.
Our Corporate Mission
"To help our customer avoid environmental
hazards, health risks and corporate liability by providing them
with the most highly evolved product technology available on the
market."
We are committed to developing product alternatives
that meet or exceed the customer's performance specifications, without
causing harm to the user's health or the environment. Ongoing research
programs will expand areas in which our customer is able to achieve
the desired results without relying on hazardous substances.
Our Corporate Mandate
• To provide our customer the most advanced
technology available on the market today.
• To develop products that deliver the performance qualities
needed without compromising health and safety.
• To offer products that help companies reduce or eliminate
the potential for environmental liability.
• To manufacture products that are competitively priced, cost
efficient and help reduce labour costs.
• To deliver environmental responsible products that sustain
or enhance our customer's Corporate Image.
• To demonstrate that Environmental Preservation and Economic
Viability can go hand in hand.
• To respect the concept that "A Shared World is a Shared
Responsibility".
Our Operational Philosophy
Sustainable Development requires that natural
resources and other environmental assets be managed for the short-term
benefit of our society, with long-term interests in mind. That means
altering practices that lead to environmental problems. Our success
will not be achieved at the expense of the planet or future generations.
We believe that a shared world is a shared responsibility and will
continue to do our part by designing technologies that directly
support sustainable development.
The "Montreal Protocol" introduced in 1987
launched a worldwide phase-out in the production and use of ozone-depleting
chemicals. The solvents and additives in BioSol products are not
chlorinated, oxidize very rapidly, and as such have the very short
atmospheric lifetime. This being the case, their ozone-depletion
potential is zero. Further to that, the carbon atoms which evaporate
from our solvents are used by vegetation as CO2 which means our
products do not contribute to global warming. In groundsoil they
readily biodegrade and are therefore not recognized as pollutants.
You can find them on Transport Canada's Green Guide to "Environmentally
Preferred Products" and are deemed safe by Alberta Environment
and the United States EPA.
Increasing emphasis on employee safety standards
and environmental legislation dictates the need for alternative
products intended for industrial cleaning. Even in their concentrated
form BioSol products have a very low order of acute oral and inhalation
toxicity, and absolutely none of the ingredients are listed as carcinogens.
Many will ask what BioSol products are made of. That question would
require a proprietary answer. Instead, we can offer what is not
in them and the list is plentiful: butyls, acids, caustic, distillates,
fluorines, chlorides, bromines, phosphates, xylenes, nitriles, toluene,
benzene, ethylbenzene, asphyxiants or any other components which
can impair employee reaction time, workplace function and comfort.
